Mid-May Newsletter

Our STF Junior teams began their seasons last week.  Come to the courts any Saturday morning from now to the end of June to watch our enthusiastic players in action.

Last call to sign up for the Doubles Strategy Clinic on May 22, 7-9 pm.  Only 3 spaces left.

Good luck to our two STF Adult teams which begin their seasons on May 23/24.  The first A2 home match is May 31, and the first C home match is June 6.  Action begins at 7 pm.

Calling all Women and Girls

The Ladies Day Social, on Saturday May 27th, 1-3 pm is just 10 days away.  This is an all ages, all levels event intended to provide an afternoon of social connection and fun.  There will be games geared for beginning players right through to experienced, and potluck finger foods to nibble when you’re not on court.  So many women tell us that they don’t feel comfortable to come out to our round robins because they’re “not good enough.”  On May 27th everyone is good enough – you just need to pick up your racquet and swing it at the ball!

Laughter, exercise and camaraderie are the key words for this event!  Make the 27th your perfect day by cruising the Guildwood garage sale in the morning and then treating yourself to tennis in the afternoon!  Sign up here.

Some charcoal and lighter fluid need a new home.  If you would like these items, please contact Frasier at fbellam@aol.com to arrange pick up.

Dave Muir is going to showcase GTC in the Guildwood Day Parade on June 3.  We are looking for a couple of families to help Dave that morning.  Contact davidbmuir@rogers.com

Welcome to Jackson Durst, our new Court Monitor for the Monday Evening Doubles round robin and Thursday Evening Singles round robin.  He is eager to give everyone a great experience at these events. Participation has been steady, but there is still lots of opportunity to join in.  These are ideal programs for players who do not have a regular hitting partner, players who are taking lessons and need to come out for practice in between lessons, and players who just want to have a great time.   Contact Jackson at courtmonitorgwtc@gmail.com

Our membership drive has been another great success.  With just around 450 members, we are ahead of where we were last year at this time.  The Executive has decided to limit membership to 500 so as not to make it difficult to find time to book courts.  If you have friends or family who may want to join, tell them to do so soon!
