Guildwood Tennis Club Announces Its 2022 Season

We are ready for the coming season of tennis in Guildwood at our courts in Elizabeth Simcoe Park. The Executive and our Committees have been incredibly busy lining up a program of activities and updating our website. We invite you to take a look! Renew your membership for 2022 while you are there. Join us early to get the most benefit and have your choice of activities!

Here are some quick news items:

  • If the weather cooperates, nets will be up and courts ready for play by Apr. 15

  • GameTime will again be used for all your court bookings

  • Shoe tags are discontinued for many reasons but mostly because your GameTime booking is proof of membership

  • Guests of members will once again be allowed, subject to payment of the guest fee of $5/day (see “Become a Member” on our website)

  • All club events are published on GameTime - it’s our official club calendar

  • GTC Facebook Group starting soon – more details coming in April

Popular round robins continue: Monday Night Singles, Weekday and Weekend Daytime Doubles 3.0 and Friday Night Social Doubles. These events are organized by a court monitor. You do not need a partner – just sign up and play.

Expanded Junior Lessons and Camps – always with a 1:6 instructor to player ratio. In addition to hour long recreational lessons at the red ball, orange ball and green ball levels, we will have performance lessons of 1.5 hours at orange ball and green ball levels. There will be 7 week-long sessions of camps as well as recreational lessons throughout the summer. Jared will also organize practice games on weekends, and the Junior Committee will organize its Junior Fun Day as well as mini tournaments and junior Guildwood Cup. Lessons and Clinics for Teens/Adults: What goals will you set for yourself this summer? Still new to the game? Try “Learn to Play” or “Learn to Win” classes. To become more fit and healthy, try “Tennis Aerobics”. To develop more confidence to win games, try Singles or Doubles “Tactics and Strategies”. To add some winning shots to your arsenal, try Singles or Doubles “Drills”. These programs will help absolutely everyone in the club to become a better player. Competition to add some spice:

  • A1, C1 and Junior Mixed Teams and will be looking for players to represent our club in weekly matches against other STF clubs during the summer.

  • Guildwood Cup will be back in September for teams of teens and adults.

  • All Ages Canada Day Tournament, Veterans Doubles Tournament and the Club Championships in August.

All this is just a click away on our website once you submit your online application. We are counting on your continued support, and to say thank you we have not increased our fees from last year!

The reason why your support is important to us is that we have big plans to improve the infrastructure of our club. To keep the playing surface in good repair is a challenge as we move forward into our 52nd year of operation. And we are working steadily to build a capital reserve fund for use in building a clubhouse. We can meet our goals if membership remains strong and you continue to support us. Share your ideas with us:

Thank you for reading! We will see you on the courts soon.
